What happens when your child is ill at Disneyworld?

Holidays with kids are really just parenting in another place! So all of that fun stuff like sickness, tantrums, and tired overwhelm still happens (unfortunately!!)

We had the very unfortunate experience of our 1 year old being unwell in the Epcot park during our trip!

So what happened here? Straight after we’d done our rider swap (and if you don’t know about that, head over to our Magic Kingdom with infants post) on Soarin’, we were sat indoors having a little rest - the weather was stormy and not great that day either - and our littlest Disney fan was ill, everywhere!

We were right by the toilets so that helped, but fast and efficient cleaning crew were also a godsend!

The day had barely begun and it had ended even quicker!

Luckily we stayed offsite and self-drove into the parks, so headed back to our villa for a chilled afternoon.

My recommendations for parents travelling to Disneyworld?

  • Park hopper tickets - without these we wouldn’t have been able to go to Epcot at all without sacrificing an entire park day somewhere else!

  • Staying offsite - while the onsite magic is amazing, I much prefer the feeling of being offsite in a villa with your own amenities for such a long trip! If you’re staying for any more than a week, offsite pips it for me! We were also fortunate that our villa owners had a stroller for us to use, and it’s something that many do have out there meaning we didn’t have to bring our own stroller with us through the airport.

  • Self-driving - again the convenience of this for parents of little children is next to none! You have no limit on what you can bring with you in the car, and you’re not packing yourselves with strollers onto a busy shuttle bus or monorail.
