Family Friendly Normandy
Normandy (or Normandie en français) is a stunning part of France that is so worth a visit with the whole family! Here are our top 5 things to see with the kids in Normandy, France.
Mont St Michel
Obviously this is TOP of the list!! You can stay in the gorgeous French village of Beauvoir and have views of the incredible Mont St Michel from your window!
Mont St Michel is now a holy island protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In order to preserve the island, there is no car parking for 1.5 miles from the mound, but if you head for the Place des Navettes once you’ve parked your car, you will find shuttle buses called passeurs which will will take you to the mount. The shuttle bus stop is 800m from the car parks and the passeurs stop 450m away from the mount itself. The passeurs operate every day at regular intervals between 7:30am and midnight.
Alternatively, you can walk from the car parks to Mont St Michel, and the views are incomparable, but it is at least a 1.5 mile walk!
Montivilliers Abbey (Abbaye de Montivilliers)
One of the best things about this region of France is the amount of history it holds! You can travel to a stunning part of France, enjoy the food and the culture, and also give your kids a well-rounded historical education. It definitely ticks all of our boxes.
The Abbey in Montivilliers is part of that historical landscape - one of the oldest abbeys in Normandy and historically home to female only Abbesses for many centuries, also home to some beautiful gardens that are absolutely worth a visit!
Étretat
The coast of Etretat, Normandy, France
You really can’t miss the stunning coastline of Étretat! The natural beauty of these white chalk cliffs of Étretat are formed of natural sea arches, needle-like rocks, and coastal erosion. Monet was famously inspired by the landscape here. Étretat is also very nearby to the pretty port town of Honfleur as well as Deauville, another town close by which is loved by the rich and famous.
