Watermouth Castle in Devon

The West Country is always a perfect place to take the family! In October 2022, we visited a gorgeous little place called Ilfracombe in Devon. We stayed for just under a week, and the kids absolutely loved it! We even stumbled upon a fantastic theme park that we had no idea was there before we visited!

Watermouth Castle

All I can say is wow! We are a family that DOES theme parks! We weren’t expecting this to be as good as it was for an independent theme park, but it was actually brilliant, so family-friendly (including for our then 7 month old baby), and all of the kids had a great time. We travelled with friends and so had 4 children there between us, aged between 0-11!

The scenery around the whole castle was beautiful too. Just look at where the castle is situated! What gorgeous views!

and the view out to the sea!

Another thing we really loved here was the science experiments as we went along the route! There is a really cool water vortex, and a bunch of sound experiments that all of the family can join in with.

Travelling with Babies?

Practical tips - if you are bringing a pushchair with you, it’s worth noting that you won’t be able to go through the main entrance. Not to worry, because a very friendly member of staff will help take you around the side of the main castle entrance instead! What this does mean though is that sadly you do miss some of the theming on the way in!

Where should we head to next?
